Oran picked up two wins last night in Perryville that will propel the teams into next week's conference tournament on a positive note.
The varsity Eagles held the host Indians of St. Vincent High School without a field goal until the 5:52 mark of the second quarter en route to a 26-9 half-time lead and were never threatened. Oran took the victory 60-29.
The Eagles had three players score in double figures. Jacob Priggel led the way with 22 points, Thomas Trankler scored 16. Hunter Schlosser added 10 for Oran.
Priggel also had 5 rebounds and 6 steals to lead in those categories as well. Schlosser had a team high 6 assists.
The Eagles are now 11-5 and will be back in action on Tuesday in the Scott-Miss Conference Tournament at 8 pm against Chaffee. The tournament is in Oran this year.
The junior varsity game started in an almost polar opposite manor. The Indians jumped out to a 9-2 lead but a motivational time out by Coach Joe Shoemaker changed the momentum and led to a 12-0 run by the Eagles that gave Oran a 14-9 lead at the intermission.
At times during the second half it appeared as if the Eagles were determined to give the game back to the hosts with poor shooting and turnovers but St. Vincent showed the same determination not to take it and Oran held on for a 38-31 victory to improve to 5-5 on the season.
The jv will take on Kelly on Monday night at 7:30 pm in the conference tourney.
Both Eagles teams received the three seeds in the tournament.
