The Lady Eagles knew they had their work cut out for them tonight as they traveled to Fruitland to take on arguably the top girls team in southeast Missouri.
To make matters worse they were down a starter as Allie Cummins was still out after an injury sustained last week during the conference tournament.
But after the first eight minutes Oran trailed the Saxony Lutheran Crusaders by only 8, 17-9.
But any hopes the Eagles had for an upset bid were dashed in the second quarter after Saxony put up 20 and held Oran scoreless.
The Crusaders then cruised to the victory 62-26 dropping the Lady Eagles to 8-5 on the season.
Ashlyn McIntosh had 11 and Brianna Stause added 9 for Oran.
In JV action, Oran fell behind 9-2 in the first period but by the end of the second they trailed 23-5 and eventually lost 52-22.
Oran, now 2-3, was led in scoring by Abbey Essner with 6 points. Autumn Westrich and Kenzie Graviett each had 5, while Gabby Krapf added 4 and Jordan Schott scored a deuce to round out the scoring.
Oran will be back in action on Thursday for a conference match up at Delta. Game time is 6 pm.
