Eagles advance

The Oran Junior High School 8th grade girls basketball team moved on to the semi-final round of the Scott-Mississippi Conference tournament, that they are hosting, with a 27-8 victory over the 7th seeded Scott County Central Bravettes this afternoon.

The 2nd seeded Eagles jumped out to a 10-1 lead after the first 6 minutes and were never threatened.  In fact, Oran held Scott Central scoreless in the second and third quarters.

Coach Ethan Evans said, "Our defensive effort was outstanding. We missed some easy shots early but got into a rhythm late in the 1st quarter."

The Eagles were led by Hope Woodfin's 12 points, including a trey.  Grace Davis had 6 and Emma Priggel added 5.  Hannah Boshell and Alyssa Spane both chipped in 2.  Chloe Prindle and Laney Shy logged minutes, but neither scored.  Mallory Lowes missed the contest due to illnes.

The were only 2-11 from the line for 18%.

Oran, now 8-5, will take on Chaffee Monday night at 8:15, with the winner moving on to Tuesday's 7;15 championship game.
