JHBB Preview

The Oran Junior High School boys basketball teams will open their 13 game season on Monday when they travel to Marble Hill to take on the Woodland Cardinals.

Head Coach Joe Shoemaker said, "I believe this group of boys are working hard and are excited for their first game.  The junior high season was moved up to finish before Thanksgiving which gives us a few less practices before the first game, but I think they are picking the system up quickly."

He continued, "I am looking forward to the season to see how much progress we will make this year.  We have eight returning 8th graders and 14 incoming 7th and 6th graders who haven’t played junior high before so we have a learning curve the first few weeks but I think they are doing a good job of adjusting to junior high basketball."

Last year, this year's group of 8th graders finished 13-4 overall, 5-1 in league play and 2nd in the Scott-Mississippi Confrence Tournament.

The conference tournament will be held at Scott County Central.
