It's another full week of basketball action coming up. Both the girls and the boys will see the court. The varsity girls squad enters this week with a 14-0 record overall and 1-0 in conference play. The junior varsity girls are 5-0 and 1-0. The older boys are 7-6 and 3-1, while the younger boys are 3-6 and 2-1.
On Monday there is no school but the girls will travel up to Saxony Lutheran to take on the 10-4 Crusaders. The game will be a rematch of the Delta New Year's Invitational title game that Oran won in a thriller in overtime 64-62.
The Scott-Mississippi Conference boys tournament starts on Tuesday at Kelly. A link to the brackets is HERE.
The varsity boys will take on the Kelly Hawks, who come in at 2-10, 1-2 at 6:30 pm. The Eagles defeated the Hawks 70-47 on Jan. 10.
The junior varsity will open their tournament action on Wednesday. They will take on Oak Ridge at 7:30
Thursday could see three games. If the jv boys win their first, they will play at 5:15. If the varsity wins on Tuesday, they will play at 7:45.
We know for sure that the girls will travel to conference foe Delta. The Bobcats are 6-7 and 1-2. They did not have a junior varsity team during last week's girls conference tourney and after losing a player I assume there will be only one game.
Friday is the finals night for the boy tournament. If the either team wins it's opener, they are guaranteed to play Friday. The third place jv game is at 4 pm followed the third place varsity game at 5:15. The junior varsity championship is scheduled to start at 6:30 and the varsity title game at 7:45.
