Junior High girls pick up 2 more wins

The Oran Junior High School girls basketball teams defeated the visiting Woodland Cardinals last night.  The seventh-grade won 38-5.  They held Woodland scoreless during the fourth-quarter.

Coach Ethan Evans said, "The girls did a great job offensively and especially defensively tonight. They got out in the passing lanes and got a lot of steals that led to easy baskets."

Addie Nichols paced the Eagles with 12 points.

Liza Dannennmueller had seven, Maddie Stickel had six, while Grace Davis added five.  Hallie Nichols and Bralynn Morgan each scored three.  Emma Priggel had two.

Oran hit 48% of their free throw attempts (10-21).  They improved to 4-0.

The eighth-grade did not allow a point until there was 4:52 before halftime.  A Woodland free throw made the score 13-1.  The Eagles won 39-18

Coach Evans told the blog, "It was a good thing we got off to a fast start or we would have been in trouble. We were very sloppy in the 2nd half against their press. That is an area we need to improve on going forward. Overall, it was a nice victory against a pretty good team."

Grace Davis led all scorers with 19.

Hannah Boshell had 9, Hope Woodfin scored 7.  Rylee Boshell and Addie Nichols had two points apiece.

They were 9 for 19 from the line for 47% and improved to 6-0.

Both teams will be back in action on Monday when they travel to Bloomfield for a 6 pm tip-off.
