The Oran High School junior varsity boys basketball team picked up a win yesterday in the quarterfinal round of the Advance Junior Varsity tournament. The 4th-seeded Eagles defeated the 5th-seeded Bloomfield Wildcats 52-41.
Oran jumped out to a 31-13 lead at halftime and held on for an 11 point win. The victory propelled them into Monday's semifinal matchup against top-seeded Cape Central at 5 pm.
Tristin Schlosser led all scorers with 14. He hit two treys and was three of three from the free throw line.
Langdon Scheeter and Cameron Westrich both added nine. Scheeter hit a trey. Cooper Priggel had seven points. He hit two from beyond the arc. Ty Johnson scored five and he made all three of his charity tosses. Kaiden Massey and Dane Shands rounded out the scoring with four points apiece.
They hit 10 of 13 from the stripe for 76.9% and improved their record to 2-1.
Coach Joe Shoemaker said, "I thought we played a lot better than Friday night. We are starting to pass the ball better on offense and did a better job of fronting the post on defense. We were able to pressure the ball defensively and created some turnovers which lead to easy points."
