Eighth-grade moves into championship

The Oran eighth-grade boys basketball team entered the Scott-Mississippi Conference tournament as the #3-seed.  Last night they upset the second-seeded East Prairie Eagles, 54-40, to advance into tonight's championship game with top-seeded Scott City at 7:30 pm at Kelly.

Last night, Oran led 10-7 after one and won each remaining quarter to pick up the 14 point upset victory.

Kolton Payne topped all scorers with 20.  Camdyn Triblett added 17.

Parker Diebold and Luke Peterson both chipped in five.  Nic Massey had four and Robby Menz hit a trey.

The team was 15 of 21 from the line for 71%.  They improved to 8-5.

Scott City and Oran have met twice this season.  The Rams won the first meeting, 45-33 and the second, 45-38.
