Lady Eagles beat Bluejays

The Oran High School girls varsity basketball team traveled to Charleston last night for a conference matchup with the Bluejays.  Oran came out with the 74-42 victory.

Coach Ethan Evans said, "I was pleased with our defensive effort for the most part. We didn’t shoot the ball very well from 3 at all. It was a struggle to put the ball in the basket all night."

Leah Cauble outscored Charleston on her own.  She hit for 46, including three three's and made 11 of 13 free throws.  Jessie Long produced a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Kaylee Payne scored six points and had eight rebounds.  She also had a team-high nine assists and eight steals.  Katelyn Streeter had four points and four steals.  Katie Webb scored three points and a team-high 12 boards.  Madison Ramsey hit a trey and Heather Gosche hit both of her free throw attempts to round out the scoring.

They made 22 of 41 from inside the arc for 54% and 4 out of 23 from beyond for 14%.  At the free throw line, they made 18-21 for 86%

They improved to 6-0 in the Scott-Miss and 14-5 overall.

Next up is the Jackson Shootout on Saturday.  The jv faces Park Hills Central at noon, the varsity teams will follow at 1:30.
