Boys split at Advance

The Oran High School boys basketball teams traveled to Advance last night to take on the Hornets. The jayvee won 47-31 and the varsity fell 74-57.

In the opener, the Eagles led 11-3 after one and 21-16 at the half.  Oran outscored Advance 26-15 to pick up the 16 point win.

Nick Romas led all scorers with 16 points.  Diesel Cato and Seth Cauble had 10 points each.  Cauble hit a trey.

Kolten Payne had eight points.  Camdyn Triblett had two points and Riley Schlosser had one.


They were 8 of 14 from the line for 57%.  They finished their season 21-2.
They won the Advance jayvee tournament, the Scott-Miss regular season (7-0) and the Scott-Miss Tournament.

In the nightcap, The Eagles, who have the top seed in the upcoming C2D3 tournament led the Hornets, who are the three-seed 15-12 after one but trailed, 32-24 at the break.  And were outscored 42-33 the rest of the way.

Langdon Scheeter led the Eagles with 16 points. Tyson Goodale had 12 points.  Cooper Priggel also had 12, including three threes.

Dane Shands added nine points and hit two treys.  Kaiden Massey, Nick Romas, Logan Rose and Samuel Shoemaker each had two apiece.


They were 12 of 22 from the line for 54.5%. From inside the arc, they were 15 of 35 for 42.9% and they were 5-15 from beyond for 33.3%. They ended the regular season with a mark of 21-5. 

Coach Joe Shoemaker said," We played a very good Advance team on Senior night who shot the ball very well on their home floor. We now get the rest of the week to get to work in practice to prepare for the postseason.  We have to improve our defense and rebounding in order to get where we want to be. "

The varsity will begin district play at  Bloomfield on Saturday when they face the hosts at 10 am.
