The Oran Junior High Volleyball teams opened their seasons with a pair of victories over visiting Scott City tonight.
8th Grade Action: The older Lady Eagles won their season-opening game in an exciting three set match. They won the first in 25-23 in a back and forth affair and then fell in the second 20-25. In the third, Oran jumped out to a quick 5-1 lead but Scott City fought back to take the lead, but the Eagles rallied late to claim the 25-23 victory.
Ali Hornback had a 100% serving percentage on the evening going 15 for 15. Jessica Long had two kills, three aces and 11 service points. Cassie Cochran had an assist, two aces and also had 11 service points.
7th Grade Action: In the opener, the 7th grade won their game in straights set, winning the first in a 25-22 squeaker and then having their way 25-15 in the second.
Savannah Elfrink led Oran with five aces and six service points. Samantha Welter two aces and added two kills. Both Jada Tyler and Heather Gosche had two aces each. As a team the Eagles had a total of 13 aces.
Upcoming Action: Both teams will take their 1-0 records to Cape Girardeau on Wednesday night. The game will be held at Cape Central Junior High and game time is scheduled for 5:00 pm.
