Preston Hahn delivers a pitch during his no-hit performance at Leopold. |
Hahn went the distance on the mound tossing a no-hitter. He struck out 11 and walked only 1 to improve his record to 3-0 and lower his ERA to 1.42. At the plate he was 2-4 with 3 RBI and a run scored.
Although the final score does not indicate it, the game was close through three innings with the Eagles holding a slim 1-0 lead.
Oran scored that first run in the second inning.
Clay Sauceda led off the inning with a single. After two consecutive misplayed pop-ups by the second baseman resulted in force-outs at second, Tanner McVay was at first with two outs. Denver Elfrink lined the first pitch he saw through the gap in left-center to score McVay all the way from first base.
That was the score heading into the fourth inning.
The Eagles exploded for 12 in that fourth frame on 6 hits, 3 errors, 3 walks, a sacrifice fly and a sacrifice bunt attempt that did not result in an out. Hahn had 2 singles in the inning that drove in all 3 of his runs. Elfrink also singled twice driving in 2 more runs.
