Eagles claim trophy and Max Priggel named to All-Tournament Team

The Oran Eagles were able to defeat a Chaffee Red Devils team looking for it's third straight upset yesterday by a final score of 38-32. Chaffee, the 14th seed, had dispatched the 11th seeded Meadow Heights Panthers and the 10th seeded Kelly Hawks the previous two days.

The Eagles, despite poor free throw shooting late, were able to claim the consolation trophy for the second straight year.

Yesterday, Oran jumped out to a 12-5 first quarter lead but the margin was trimmed to 3 at the intermission, 20-17.

It was even tighter after three, 29-28.

Oran, despite hitting only 4 of 12 from the stripe during the final quarter, was able to claim the six point win.

Layne Johnson led the Eagles with 12 and Cole Priggel added 10.

Max Priggel, who was named to the All-Tournament team, had 8.  He hit 2 three-pointers.  Garrison Mangels chipped in 7 and Preston Hahn tallied 1.

Oran was only 6 of 16 for the line for 38% on the night.

The Eagles improved to 6-5 and will next take the court on Tuesday, January 5th at Bernie.
