What's happenin' (2/1 - 2/8)

The first week of February will feature four nights of high school basketball action for the Eagles.

On Monday, the girls will travel to Greenville.  The Bears do not have a junior varsity squad, so there will be only one game starting at 6 pm..  Greenville is currently 12-8 and last year they they won the contest  40-31.

Tuesday evening the boys will host conference and highway 77 rival Chaffee at 6 o'clock.  Oran has defeated the Red Devils twice this season thus far.  during the Christmas Tournament the Eagles claimed a 38-32 victory and then during the conference tournament they won 57-33.  Chaffee is 4-14 overall and 0-4 in the league.  Oran is 12-9 and 3-2 in the Scott-Miss, the jv is 5-9 and 2-2, respectively.

Also on Tuesday, the Junior Beta Club will host a chili supper from 4:30 to 7:30 to help raise funds for their trip to the national convention in New Orleans during June.

After a day off on Wednesday, the girls will host conference opponent Charleston on Thursday.  The Eagles won a very physical contest over the Blue Jays during the conference tournament by a final of 78-36.  Oran comes in with a 4-0 conference record and 16-3 overall setting up first place show down with their opponent, who is also 4-0 in the league.  Charleston is 9-6 in contests. Game time is 6 pm.

On Friday, the boys will travel to Bell City to take on the Cubs for the third time this season also.  The Eagles own wins in both of those games, 60-38 in the OIT and 64-58 during the Christmas tourney.  Bell City is currently 11-7.  Although I haven't heard for sure, more than likely it will be Cubs' homecoming game.  Bell City does not have a junior varsity squad so there will only be one game starting at 6 pm.
