In the night cap, Leah Cauble hit a 3 on the Eagles first possession and the rout was on. Cauble would go to hit 16 of her game-high 29 during the opening period as Oran led 29 to 6 after one.
The lead would continue to grow.
The Eagles were up 49-8 at the intermission and 70-19 after three.
A 6-1 advantage during a mercy-rule running-clock fourth quarter provided the final 46 point margin.
Cauble's 29 included 3 from beyond the arc. She also dished 5 assists on the night. Ashlyn McIntosh recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Jessie Long added 10 points.
Tatum May and Brianna Stause both scored 7. Stause had a trey and 5 steals. MacKenzie Graviett, Hannah Scherer, Erin Schlitt, Katelyn Streeter and Claire Ramsey had 2 apiece. Scherer grabbed 8 rebounds off the bench.
Shiloh Kirn played but did not score.
As a team Oran was 4 of 16 from beyond the arc for 25% and 27 out of 50 from inside for 54%. At the free throw line, the Eagles were 10-18 for 56%.
A happy Head Coach Ethan Evans told the blog, "The girls did a really good job of guarding and taking it to the rim last night in the 1st half. We didn't shoot the 3 very well but were able to get on the offensive boards and get some easy put backs. I am proud of everything these girls have accomplished so far and hope to make a deep post season run."
They had 16 offensive rebounds last night. McIntosh had 6, Scherer 4 and Long 3.
Junior Varsity
On Monday, the jayvee lost a heart-breaker to St. Vincent, a game they probably should have won. Last night they were going to make sure they did not end the season with a losing streak.
The Eagles came out fast and furious as the Ramseys hit three straight threes, 2 by Claire and 1 by Madison. 1:45 into the game and Oran was up 9-0. Scott City called a time-out, but that did not break the Eagle momentum. Oran led after the first quarter, 21-0.
Scott City would not score until they hit a free throw at the 3:19 mark of the second period, by that time it was 27-1. The Eagles went into the break, up 35-3.
Oran outscored the Rams 19-14 in the second half, as they too played the fourth quarter with a turbo-clock.
Coach Evans said, "The girls got off to a very nice start and I was very happy to finally see that. To finish 7-0 in the conference was awesome. It was such a pleasure to watch these girls grow as a team each and every game this year."
MacKenzie Graviett claimed scoring honors as she out-pointed Scott City by herself, knocking down 18. Claire Ramsey, with 2 from long distance, and Katelyn Streeter both added 12.
Madison Ramsey finished with 2 treys for her 6 total points, while Madison Graviett had 4 and Megan Henson chipped in 2.
The Eagles did not attempt a free throw during the game.
The younger group went 7-0 during the conference season and 11-4 overall.
The varsity squad also went 7-0 in league games and head into the district tournament with a 21-3 mark. They will take on the Fulton School at St. Albans at 6 pm on Monday at Richland High School.
