This week is win or go home week for the Oran High School basketball teams as they compete in the Class 1, District 2 tournament at Richland High School.
Let's look first at the girls.
The Lady Eagles will take an 8 game winning streak into their first round game on Monday. Oran, the number 1 seed, will face the fourth-seeded Eagles from the Fulton School at St. Albans.
Oran comes in with a 21-3 record while St. Albans is 13-11. Their regular season schedule does not include any MSHSAA opponents.
Last year Oran picked up a 47-15 victory, in the opening round of post-season play. on their way to a 2nd straight district championship. With a victory Oran would advance to the finals against the winner of 2-seed Delta and 3-seed St. Paul Lutheran out of Farmington. Game time is 6 pm.
The boys started their portion of the tournament yesterday with an 88-31 drubbing of Delta.
Next up is Bell City on Tuesday at 7:30.
This will be the fourth meeting for these two squads. The Eagles, the two seed, defeated the third-seeded Cubs 68-39 back in November during the O.I.T. and in December during the seMissourian Christmas Tournament 64-58. Bell City picked a win on February 5th, 63-62. Oran has a 14-13 record while Bell City stands at 14-10.
The winner will advance to Thursday night's championship game at 7:30 against the winner of #1 Advance and #4 Risco.
