What's happenin' (3/14 - 3/19)


Next week will feature junior high girls volleyball and the season-opener for high school baseball.

On Monday, the junior high girls will look to pick up their initial victory of the season when they host the Oak Ridge Blue Jays at 6 pm.

No games on Tuesday the Ides of March.

Then on Wednesday, the girls will be back in action as they travel to Sikeston.  Game time is 5 pm.

Thursday and Friday are both off days.  But, on Thursday Oran alums Taylor Nenninger and Anna Jones who are playing softball at Mineral Area College will face Chrissy Sauceda and her Three Rivers team at Poplar Bluff in a double-header scheduled for a 2 pm first pitch.

And then on Saturday, high school baseball will start their season as they travel to Malden to play two.  The Eagles will face the host team at 11 am and then play Caruthersville immediately following.  Last year Malden finished 24-6, losing in a Class 3 sectional game.  The Eagles and Greenwave did not play last year.  They last met in May of 2014, Oran picked up a 7-5 victory.  The Caruthersville Tigers were 8-16 last season, losing in the first round of Class 3 District 1 tournament.  These two teams have not met in recent memory.
