The Oran High School baseball team scored 7 runs in the first inning on Thursday at Scott County Central on their way to a 15-4 six-inning mercy rule victory over the Braves.
The Eagles used 3 hits, 4 walks and a hit batter in the opening frame. The big blow was a base-clearing, bases-loaded two-out double by Drew Reischman during his second at bat of the inning.
Blake Overfield picked up his first career win, in his first career start. He went 2 2/3 innings allowing 4 runs, all earned, on 2 hits. He walked 6 and struck out 4. Tanner McVay made his first career appearance. He went the final 3 1/3. He allowed no runs, giving up 3 hits. He struck out 6 and only walked 1.
Reischman went 4-4 with 5 RBI. Preston Hahn was 3-4 with 3 runs driven in. McVay was 2-3 and he also drove in 3.
Oran improved to 5-6 with the win and 1-2 in conference. Against district foes they are 3-0.
