Eagles soar past Wildcats

Three Oran hurlers combined for a 5 inning no hitter as the Eagles routed the Leopold Wildcats 11-0 in the semi finals of the Class 1, District 2 baseball tournament at Advance this evening.

Drew Reischman pitched 3 perfect innings to pick up the win, improving to 3-1 on the season.  He struck out 5.  Preston Hahn retired all three he faced in the fourth inning, striking out 1.  Layne Johnson struck out 2 and walked 2 during the fifth.

Reischman and Cole Priggel opened the Eagle half of the first with infield singles.  Hahn then doubled to the fence in right-center to drive in 2 runs.  He moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on Clay Sauceda's ground out to short.

Five more would score in the second as Oran pulled away. Tanner McVay led off with a double over the right fielder's head and scored on Austin Eftink's double. Reischman reached on a fielder's choice.  Priggel singled to left and drove in Eftink.  Hahn was then hit by a pitch to load the bases.  Reischman crossed after a walk to Sauceda.  A Blake Overfield single drove in Priggel and Hahn scored when Wildcat left fielder bobbled the ball.

The Eagles would score their final runs in the third. Drew Mitchem was hit by a pitch.  Eftink singled him to second.  One out later, Priggel drove them both in with long triple over the center fielder's head.  He would cross Hahn's single to right.

Priggel went 3-3 with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored.  Hahn was 2-2.  He also had 3 runs driven in and scored twice.  Eftink was 2-3 with an RBI and he crossed the plate twice.

Oran improved to 14-8 and will take on the number 1 seed Bell City Cubs in tomorrow's district championship game.  First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 at Advance's Westfield Park.
