The Oran High School baseball team scored early and often against the visiting Puxico Indians
yesterday.
The Eagles scored seven runs in the 1st and never looked back, taking a 15-1 five inning victory, shortened by the mercy rule.
Drew Reischman got thing started for Oran by cracking his 2nd home run in as many games, leading off the bottom of the first. The next seven Eagles would reach safely on six hits, including Drew Mitchem's RBI triple, and a walk.
The second inning saw three more cross the plate, highlighted by Todd Priggel's 2 RBI triple. .
One run crossed in the third, after Cole Priggel reached on a two out infield error and moved to second on Clay Sauceda's base on balls, he scored on Austin Eftink's RBI single.
Oran put the final nails in Puxico's coffin in the fourth when Denver Elfrink led off with a double, went to third on an outfield error on a ball hit by Todd Priggel. Elfrink scored on Jacob Shoemaker's RBI single. Priggel would score on a single by Reischman. Pinch hitter Max Priggel, in his first high school at bat, drove in Shoemaker with a single an then Reischman crossed on Avery Mitchem's pinch hit infield single.
Todd Priggel made his high school debut on the mound giving up only 1 run on 1 hit. He struck out 6 and walked 4. Clay Sauceda pitched the fifth, retiring all three he faced, with 1 strike out.
Priggel and Eftink both had 3 RBI on the day to lead the team.
The Eagles improved to 2-0 with the victory and will be back in action on Wednesday when they host the Bloomfield Wildcats. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 and jv innings are planned.
