Eagles fall on the road

For the second night in a row, the Oran High School volleyball teams lost straight sets on the road to the Bulldogs.  Last night, it was the conference foe Sikeston Bulldogs after Monday's loss to the Zalma Bulldogs.  The junior varsity dropped an 25-18, 25-17 decision.  The varsity lost a 26-24 heartbreaker in the opener and then 25-20 in the second set.

Speaking of the varsity match, head coach Larry Boshell said, "We played really well at the start of the first set, probably the best we have played all year.  They put together a 7 point run that really hurt us, but we recovered and went back and forth from about 21 or so, we just couldn't get over the hump.  Started off a little flat in the second set but battled back, but when you dig yourself a hole it is hard to get out of it."

Olivia Schlosser dished out 9 assists, Jessie Long had 2 blocks, an ace and 4 kills. Brianna Stause had a pair of blocks, an ace and 3 kills, while Kenzie Graviett added a block, an ace and 3 kills.  Kaylee Payne chipped in a block and 5 kills.

Boshell added, "When we start putting together complete sets and games, we are going to be tough to beat."

During the opener, Cami Cruz handed out 4 assists and a pair of aces.  Ali Hornback served 5 aces and had kill.  Katelyn Streeter had 3 aces and 2 kill.  Savannah Elfink had 2 kills while Sam Welter added an ace.

Oran will be back in action on Thursday when they host Risco on Senior Night.  Game time is 6 pm.
