JHGB splits on the road.

It was a good news, bad news scenario last night for the Oran Junior High School girls basketball team who played at conference foe Scott City last night.

The good news was that the seventh grade won 18-2.  The bad news, the eighth grade fell 26-15.

In the opener, the Eagles led 6-2 after the first quarter and threw a shut out in the second, 12-0, to pick up the win.

Coach Ethan Evans said, "the girls played excellent defense and really did a good job working the ball around. I was very pleased with their effort."

Cousins, Hannah and Rylee Boshell each scored 6 points, Rylee was 2-2 from the free throw line.  Grace Davis had 4 while Laney Shy added 2.

The team is now 2-0 overall and 2-0 in the Scott-Miss.

In the night cap, Oran trailed 14-12 at the half, but then Scott City held the Eagles scoreless in the third while scoring 9 themselves and cruised to the 11 point victory.

Mallory Lowes scored 8, including a trey, before fouling out in the fourth quarter.  Hannah Boshell had 4 points, Alyssa Spane chipped in 2 and Chloe Prindle added a single point.

Coach Evans commented, "We didn't shoot the ball well at all. I would be surprised if our shooting percentage made it out of the teens. They were physical with us and we didn't respond well at all."

The eighth grade is now 1-1 overall and in league play.

The girls will be back in action on Monday, when they host non-conference foe Meadow Heights at 6 pm.
