What's happenin' (9/19- 9/23)
There will be 7 games in 5 nights, plus a booster club meeting this week for Oran Eagle athletics.
Junior high girls basketball will have 4 games this week. The 7th grade comes in at 2-0, 2-0. The 8th graide is 1-1,1-1. High School volleyball has 3 games scheduled. The jv is 1-5, 1-2. The varsity is 4-6-1, 3-0.
On Monday, the basketball team host Meadow Heights at 6 pm. Last year the Panthers did not have a 7th grade team. The volleyball team travels to Zalma. The Bulldogs are 0-7-2. A year ago, the Eagles won in 3. The match starts at 6 pm also.
Both teams are back in action on Tuesday. Once again the junior high is at home, this time they host conference for Charleston. Last year, the 7th grade team fell 15-10. Volleyball has a conference match at Sikeston. Oran fell in 3 during last year's meeting. This Bulldog squad is 6-7, 2-0 pending a match at conference rival Charleston on Monday. Both events begin at 6 pm.
The Booster Club will meet at 7 pm on Wednesday. Plans will be finalized for the upcoming fundraising Golf Tournament that will be held on Monday, October 10th at Bent Creek. More information on this event is available here. Anyone interested in supporting Oran athletics is welcom to attend. The meeting will be held in the FACS room.
The action returns to the court on Thursday. This time the junior high will have a bus ride, travelling to East Prairie for a conference game. Last year the Eagles from Mississippi county won twice, 21-20 in the regular season and then to end Oran's season 27-18 in the conference tournament at Delta. Volleyball will host district rival Risco. It will be senior night for Brianna Stause and Megan Tenkhoff. The Eagles dropped a straight set decision last year on the road. The Tigers entered the weekend at 9-1. They were scheduled to appear in a weekend tournament at Gideon, but results were not available at the time this post was published. Game time for both is 6 pm
Basketball will close out the week on Friday when the Eagles travel to Marble Hill for a 6 pm contest with Woodland. Oran dropped last year's 7th grade game 31-14.
