The eighth-grade girls basketball team opened the Scott-Mississippi conference tournament with a win on Saturday at East Prairie over Kelly 54-19.
The Eagles and the Hawks were tied 6-6 after one period. From there, however, it was all Oran.
Coach Ethan Evans said, "We got off to another rough start and had a little foul trouble there in the first quarter. We took control some there in the second quarter but really played a fantastic second half."
Grace Davis led the way with 27 points.
Hannah Boshell and Rylee Boshell both scored eight. Emma Priggel put in six and Hope Woodfin had five, including a trey.
As a team, they hit only 5 of 17 free throws for 29%.
With the win, the eighth-grade is now 13-1. They will face Chaffee at 7 pm on Monday. That game will follow the 7th-grade contest against Kelly that is scheduled for 5:45.
