The Oran High School softball team picked up its third consecutive victory yesterday with a 16-0 four-inning win over the visiting Oak Ridge Blue Jays. Neither team scored in the first, but the Lady Eagles sent 17 to the plate in the second and scored 13 runs. They enacted the mercy rule in the fourth with a two-run walk-off homer by Claire Ramsey.
Katelyn Streeter picked up the win in her first appearance in the circle of the season. She tossed four shutout innings, allowing four hits. She walked two and struck out two.
Ramsey was 2-3 and drove in four runs. Rylee Boshell was 2-2 with three RBI. Leah Cauble and Taylor Lowes each drove in two runs.
Coach Jim Eftink said, "Nice win! Lots of big hits punctuated by Claire’s walk-off homer. [It was the] first game of the year we were solid in all three phases of the game-pitching, hitting and defense."
Oran improved to 3-2 and will be back in action at home on Saturday. They will face Bernie at 11am. After Bernie plays Ste. Genvieve, the Eagles will take on Ste. Gen.
