Todd Priggel hit a two-run homer in the first. In the fifth, Nic Massey singled home Dane Shands who had doubled, for the only other extra-base hit.
Kaden Hargrove tossed a complete game to improve his record to (3-2). He allowed four hits, one unearned run, struck out seven and did not walk a batter as the Eagles finished the fall season at 10-3.
Coach Joe Bickings said, “I had a feeling this game was going to be a tough game. Bernie is well-coached and I knew they wouldn't want to have a game against us like last weekend. It was a pitchers duel and lucky for us we were able to come out on top. I was really hoping after Todd Priggel's home run in the 1st inning was going to get our bats going but it didn't happen. You have to credit Bernie's pitcher as he threw strikes early in the count and was missing our barrels. I think he only threw 60 pitches in the 6 innings he pitched. We were able to get an insurance run in the 5th inning to help Kaden out. Kaden was finally able to finish a game for us which is really nice to see. What I really like was he didn't walk anyone this game. Walks have been a problem for Kaden especially late in games.”
The junior varsity lost 3-2 in a three-inning contest.
