Boys blitz Bloomfield

On Saturday, the Oran High School boys varsity basketball team traveled to Bloomfield to begin play in the Class 2 District 3 tournament.  The top-seeded Eagles faced the 8th-seeded hosts in the opening game.  Oran jumped out to a 21-4 lead after one and 36-13 at half went on to a 30-point victory, 57-27.

Tyson Goodale led all scorers with 12, including a trey.  Ty Johnson had 11 and he too hit a three-pointer.  Johnson led the team with seven rebounds and five assists.

Langdon Scheeter and Dane Shands had nine apiece.  Shands had one from beyond the arc.  Cooper Priggel and Samuel Shoemaker both scored six.  Priggel made two threes.  Cameron "Big Dawg" Westrich had four points.

They were 6-16 from the line for 37.5%.  They made 18 of 37 from inside the arc for 48.6% and 5 of 18 from beyond for 27.8%.  They were outrebounded 30-28.  They forced 30 turnovers and committed only 12 of their own.

Coach Joe Shoemaker said, "We were able to come out in the first quarter and set the tone with our defense. We had a good team effort and need to continue doing that as we prepare for the next game."

Oran improved to 22-5 on the year and will face the 4th-seed Valle Catholic Warriors (18-9) on Tuesday at 6 pm.
