Lady Eagles pound Puxico

On Saturday, The Oran High School varsity girls basketball team traveled to Bloomfield to begin play in the Class 2 District 3 tournament  The top-seeded Lady Eagles rolled over the 8th-seeded Lady Indians of Puxico 50-10.  Oran led 23-0 after one and 40-3 at the half, as Puxico managed only three free throws during the first 16 minutes.

Katie Webb led all scorers with 15.

Taylor Lowes had eight, including a trey.  Hope Woodfin added six and Heather Gosche, Traci Hency, Mallory Lowes and Kaylee Payne had four each.  Grace Davis had three.  Kennedi Mcvay added a field goal.

Coach Larry Boshell said, "We came out and did what we needed to do to build the lead and able to get starters plenty of rest heading into the semifinals Monday night.   We wanted to get through the first round healthy and we did that.  We had a good practice [Sunday] and hopefully we play well and keep the season going."

They were 7 of 16 from the line for 43.7%.  They improved to 21-5 and will face 5th-seeded Chaffee (11-15) on Monday at 6 pm
