Lady Eagles dump 'Devils

The Oran High School girls varsity basketball team traveled to Bloomfield last night for the semifinal round of the Class2 District 3 tournament, the top-seeded Eagles rolled the 5th-seeded Chaffee Lady Red Devils by a score of 64-32 to advance into the Thursday night's finals against the third-seeded Lady Indians of St. Vincent.  Just over a week ago, Oran defeated St. Vincent 72-23 in Oran.

Last night, Oran led 9-0 before Chaffee hit a free throw with 5:26 left in the first.  After one, Oran was up 17-10 at the end of one quarter.  At the half, Oran was on top 33-20.  Then, for the second game in a row, the Lady Eagle defense tossed a shutout period.  Oran outscored Chaffee 22-0 in the third to take an insurmountable 55-20 lead into the fourth for the mercy rule turbo clock and 32 point win.  In fact, Chaffee didn't score in the second half until the 5:35 mark of the fourth.

Katie Webb led all scorers with 24.  Taylor Lowes and Kayle Payne had 14 each.  Lowes had two from beyond the arc. 

Mallory Lowes had five, including a three-pointer.  Hope Woodfin hit a trey to account for her points.  Paige Bradley and Heather Gosche both added a field goal

They were 2 of 4 from the free throw line.  They improved to 22-5 on the year and will look for the seventh consecutive district crown on Thursday.
